Say hello to our second new DT member...

.....MICHELLE.....

Hi, I am Michelle known as Scattychick to many which suits me rather too well :) and I am over the moon to be joining the talented ladies here at Creative Craft World.

I am a stay at home mum of four monkeys (they are too cheeky to be called children!) aged 12, 9, 7, and 2 and wife to a very tall army sergeant so we move around a fair bit. I have been crafting ever since I can remember and my passion for craft started with cross stitch, I started making cross stitched cards which led me to papercrafts and I haven't looked back since. I mainly Scrap at the moment although I have recently started art journalling and love getting inky and messy and I also quilt, crochet and sew.

Most of my Scrapbook pages feature one or more of my monkeys although I am also doing a "book of me" which is proving slightly tricky as I hate having my photo taken! I also love to scrap my other babies my chocolate labrador Molly and my two cats Sylvester and Spider.

Hi! I’m Sarah and I am so thrilled to be a part of the Creative Craft World design team :)

I’ve been married for 16 years and am a stay at home Mum of two girls 15 & 5 and a boy of 7.

I started card making in 2006 but I’ve always loved creating things since I was small (I think like most crafters have!) I absolutely love working on a small scale especially making mini albums but recently I’ve taken the plunge and tried working with the bigger 12”x12” size and I LOVE it! It helped me so much to follow a sketch and the monthly Scrap Maps on the CCW challenge blog are perfect for this :)

I also enjoy sewing ~ my addiction for fabric is nearly as bad as it is for paper. As it’s more expensive though, I have to learn to curtail it!

CCW Mini Challenge

Welcome to the launch of our new monthly challenge here at CCW, this coincides with the launch of our mini kit now available as a one off purchase or as a subscription, please pop across to the shop here for more details and pictures.

So onto the challenge:

We are looking for anything mini for this challenge, so a card, tag, mini book, 6x6 scrapbook LO or similar. The girls on the DT were each given a mini kit to have a play with and this is what they came up with:

Trish: has made 4 gorgeous cards.

Susi: has made some stunning projects including a LO, Treat Bag and a card.

Sue: has made a beautiful LO and card

Nora: has made a lovely mini book including prima flowers and doilys available from CCW

You don't have to use the mini kit for this challenge but the project must be smaller then 12x12, please link your project using the linky tool below or email us here

Our winner will receive a mini kit, a months GDT slot and an instore discount for their term on the DT.

DT Call 2012

It is with great delight that I can announce a DT call for 2012 here at Creative Craft World.

We are a friendly bunch of ladies who would like to find an extra member to join our team for 2012 so if you are interested then read on for full details and how to submit your work.

What we do: Each month we run 2 challenges on the challenge blog, our scrap map challenge which launches on the first saturday of the month and then our mini challenge which launches the 15th of each month. We would like you to make a LO for the scrap map each month and also a mini project for the mini challenge so either a card, mini album, tags etc. At intervals, on a rota basis, we will ask you to produce projects for our sell-out subscription kit.

Think it might be for you? What do you get?

Each month you will receive either a 6x6" mini kit or a 12x12" subscription kit, depending on the rota. Your work will be showcased on the challenge blog, the kit blog and in the project pages of the kits and you will have access to our private DT blog where we share ideas and generally chat as a team. If that's not enough you will be privilege to a generous instore discount for any purchases you make throughout your term on the DT.

The term is for 6 months and within that time we expect 12 projects for the challenge blog and 1 monthly kit project sheet. The term will run February 1st 2012 until July 31st 2012. You must promote CCW challenges on your personal blog.

Christmas Countdown - Day 28

Today we are joined by Philomena, another guest designer who has made a couple of beautiful cards to share with us! For the first card pictured above Phil used some Echo Park papers for the background, and then stamped the trees and coloured them with Copics. This would be a great card if you needed to send it through the post as Phil has steered clear of any bulky embellishments on this one.

Phil's second card is much more traditional with lots of lovely Christmassy reds and greens and a sweet little robin too! Phil used distress inks to stamp the focal point of her card, along with lots of die cutting and punches for the decorative borders and the poinsettia. The little pearls are a lovely finishing touch to a special card!

Altered Coke Bottle

Im sure most of you (if not all) have some alcohol inks stashed away somewhere in your craft room. Well today's the day that you take them out for a spin! They can be intimidating especially if you’re not sure on what to do with them but maybe I can help.

Alcohol inks work best on slick, non-porous surfaces. They make this mottled, stained glass effect and are usually used with Ranger’s glossy paper. Today however, I’m going to use them on glass.

My tutorial today will be altering a glass bottle using these inks. I only have a few in my stash but a few is all you need. I used 3 different colours along with one of the mixatives that I have in gold.

What you need:

Alcohol inks of your choice

Alcohol mixative - Gold

Ink blending solution

Felt ink applicator

Craft sheet – alcohol inks DO stain

Clear glass bottle – I used a glass Coke bottle

Other supplies –

Embellishments

Bling

Twine

Buttons

Method –

*Note – I ended up not using the ink blending solution because I wanted a more opaque finish. However, if you prefer a more translucent look you may add the blending solution to produce a lighter coat of colour.

1. Squeeze a few drops of alcohol ink colours onto the felt applicator.

2. Pounce in a random motion all over the bottle – wherever you want the bottle to be coloured – I left out a bit at the top and let it remain clear.

3. Play around with the inks until you are happy with the overall look.

*For a more pronounced colour, I squeezed droplets of alcohol ink directly onto the bottle and then pounced it with my felt applicator

4. Once you are happy with the overall look, cut a strip of patterned paper long and wide enough to cover the Coca Cola label.

5. Adhere the strip of paper with really strong adhesive.

6. Take some twine and wrap it around the strip of patterned paper a few times.

7. Add embellishments of your choice – I used some American Crafts felt 3D stickers and some buttons.

8. I also added some Prima bling to add some pizzazz to the bottle and voila you’re done!

Good morning fellow crafters.

Its August 26th already so that means its time for another card crazy challenge here at Creative Craft World. Now we had some beautiful enteries to our last card challenge,dont forget to come back on August 28th to see our winner for that challenge.

Our challenge should you choose to accept it is 'A card for Granny, (or Grandad)'.. September 11th is Grandparents day. So why not make a card from the children. Or a new Granny. A birthday card . Its time for a Card Crazy Challenge again.. Here at Creative Craft World we, like the rest of the world have gone Royal Wedding crazy.Did you know there was going to be a wedding on friday April 29th ? Prince William will be marrying Kate Middleton..... So get out your Red, White and Blue. Then hang out your ribbons.... 3 of them to be exact.(or 2) Thats our theme.. Red, White and Blue with 2 or 3 ribbons. For this challenge we are being sponsored by The Stamping Boutique, who will be giving our winner a selection of digi images. The DT were given a selection of digi images to create cards with, heres our inspiration. Hope it gives you a few ideas.
